7th/8th Grade Spelling Bee Results
Rifle Middle School hosted Garfield School District’s 7th/8th Grade Spelling Bee on February 3. Students from Riverside Middle and RMS competed in two written rounds and an oral round to determine who would represent the district at the state spelling bee in Denver.
Students first completed two written rounds. The written round winners were: Third Place-Kellie Larsen-RIV, Second Place-Austin Kennedy-RMS, and First Place-Natalie Bustad-RMS. These three students got to compete in the oral round, along with the following RIV students: Jesse Crawford, Shayla DeYoung, India Vasquez, Colton Sickels, and James Valenteen, and these RMS students: Ashton Collett, Breanda DeLoera, Sarah McCutchan, and Austin Kennedy.
After a great oral round, we were down to three spellers. Oral round winners were: Third Place: Kellie Larsen-RIV, Second Place: India Vasquez-RIV, and First Place: Natalie Bustad-RMS. Natalie will represent our school district at the state spelling bee in Denver on March 6th. Congratulations, Natalie!

We would like to say a big thank you to all the competitors and volunteers, especially Donna Bannon and Kathy Bernat, who always make the spelling bee a fun event. It is truly a pleasure to see these students support each other during competition. Thank you Rifle Middle School for hosting again this year!
